Find Government Jobs on Craigslist
If you’re looking to obtain a government job, Craigslist.org is a great place to look. Craigslist has a special section on it’s website specifically for government jobs. Craigslist is a free service, and does attempt to moderate it’s postings, however that does not mean that scams don’t sometimes slip through the cracks. How can you avoid being scammed?
Stay away from entries that are not for jobs. This might seem like an odd bit of advice, since it would make sense that there would not be any listings in the employment section that are not for jobs, but some are not. Some listings will advertise a way to get government grants in order to start up a business, but these are fraudulent. Other listings direct you to pay to play job search sites. Only pay attention to postings advertising actual employment positions.
Never pay anyone online a fee. Some scammers will claim to take care of fees for civil service exams, but you should never pay anyone except a government agency any exam fees. This is sure to be a scam of some sort.
Use additional job search sources. Craigslist is popular, but is not always used by everyone, so the best way to have the most available options is to diversify. Check listings in the classified section of the newspaper, and look to other job search venues. It is possible that the job you are looking for is not posted to Craigslist at all, but then again, maybe it is.
Government jobs are available to people of many types of careers and skills. It is possible to find government jobs working in media relations, politics, customer service, forestry, and medical technologies. By taking a little time to research job postings, you can easily cut away the scams from the legitimate jobs and wind up with the job you desire. Good luck.
